Hello.
Today I thought I'd draft and plan some ideas for my FMP. Although the final unit officially starts after Easter, I think it's better to have somewhere to start from and feeling secure about your project before beginning it.
GENRE
In terms of genre, I was initially thinking of exploring horror, but since that's something that I know will be easy, I think that I should take the time to learn and show my talents at the same time, doing something i'm not well versed in.
Abstract film
I am thinking of having shots in the same place (showing continuity) and showing how a place changes even though the location and position of the camera is the same (can be about how life changes/goes on whether you exist or not, like the seasons etc.) The storyline is blurred and left to the interpretation of the viewers.
My reference for this specific genre 'La Jetee.' It is a french short film that explores a man's recollection of his life which is shown in an obscure montage style. I really felt intrigued and fascinated by the directors ability to tell a story without having direct dialogue insinuating the plot-line, but rather images that told the story without having to explain what was going on.
LA JETEE - Chris Marker
Poetic / Artistic film
This will have focus on cinematography and having aesthetically pleasing images to correlate with the narration. I wanted to have a go with this style of film due to the fact that I write and it would be an chance to showcase my other talent alongside my craft in film. My references for this Genre are Sawyer Hartman, Vincent Cyr, Natasha B and Bertie Gilbert.
Post Apocalyptic Film
This is a good genre to do as you don't have to be so reliant on actors and location planning as you are acting in a post apocalyptic situation. You can also bring in the element of horror whilst using thriller and dramatic elements. You are essentially given the opportunity to show off the techniques you have learnt (scriptwriting, foley, lighting)
Mock/Documentary
Mockumentary - Satirical and informal in contrast to a normal documentary. To make a point by being humourous whilst using information that is either incorrect to be sarcastic or very serious facts
(References include Richard Ayoade and Louis Theroux)
Documentary - About POC and there is still modernised oppression (interviews) References : VICE
