Hello.
Whether you are constructing a text or analysing one, you will need to consider the destination of that text (i.e it's target audience) and how that audience (or any other) will respond to that text.
Effects models
Theoretical explanations of how humans digest the information transmitted by media texts and how this might influence their behaviour.
1. The hypodermic needle model (1950's) audiences passively receive the information

2. Uses and gratifications (1970's) far from being a passive mass, audience were made up of individuals who actively consumed texts for different reasons and in different ways. These ways were Diversion of everyday problems and routine (an escape of some sorts), using the media for emotional connections and other interaction (substituting family life for soap operas), personal identity (finding yourself reflected in texts and surveillance for information (weather, etc)

3. Reception theory - how individuals circumstances effected their reading (gender, age, class and ethnicity were considered)

This week, we were set the task of making a stop-motion film that caters to a specific audience. I have been brainstorming multiple ideas that would be important to me.
1-

AUDIENCE: YOUNG ADULTS
GENDER: ALL/ANY
RACE/CLASS: ALL/ANY
I have the idea to make my film about safe sex.I wanted to do this as there isn't that much representation in the media about "taboo" topics and when it comes to contraceptives and other preventive devices, there isn't much information for non-heterosexual couples. I wanted to include LGBTQ+ because people often sexualize these kind of relationships. I also want to talk about cosnsentI want to make an informative, inclusive educational video that could help this particular audience. These sources may be helpful to me if I wanted to go with this idea:

AUDIENCE: YOUNG ADULTS/ADULTS±
GENDER: ALL/ANY
RACE/CLASS: ALL/ANY
Another idea was to make a quick stop-motion awareness short film about OCD. It's inspired by this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufqFO5B1vQY and my own condition.
Many people have their illnesses stigmatized in the media and through word of mouth, such as phrases like "I'm so OCD" etc. I want to make a stop motion video so I can bring light to the condition because many people think it's just about cleaning but it's more than that as shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX7jnVXXG5o
I watched these videos on stop-motion and they showed me how long the process can be but the work pays off as the final product looks effortlessly played through.
I think tomorrow will focus more on the creative aspect of things, and looking to put the production together. I'll be able to finalize my stop-motion idea choice and create something that will be of use to my audience. Stay tuned...
